Simon Kendrick has raised £3350 in just one month for his Flora London Marathon sponsorship for CLIC Sargent, the UK's leading Children's Cancer Charity. Here is Simon's story:
On December 31st 2007 my much loved 15 month old son, Ben, was diagnosed with cancer. I find it hard to explain the shock, devastation, fear and anger I felt on hearing this news.
CLIC Sargent were quick to visit my wife (Katy), daughter (Jessica) and myself in Leicester Royal Infirmary. They offer support in so many ways to families as they come to terms with the impact of having a child with cancer. We have been offered counselling, financial support for travel to and from hospital, free helplines, holiday retreats ... and much, much more.
Despite being a little fat and a lot unfit I have decided to run the Flora London Marathon on April 13th 2008 to raise money for CLIC Sargent! I ask you to take a few moments to consider just how worthwhile the work of this charity is.
Imagine if you had a child with cancer and you couldn't afford to drive daily to a specialist hospital 75 miles away from your home. Imagine if you had a child with cancer and your employer refused to pay you if you weren't at work.
