The race is renowned for being one of the friendliest races in the UK. Chosen as one of the UK's top two marathons in 2013 - as voted for by you, the readers of Runner's World, it should be high on your list of must-do races this year.

If that’s not enough to tempt you, the race has also just been named as the UK’s Best Mass Participation Race in the Sweatshop Awards for the Running Industry.

The MBNA Chester Marathon, often referred to as 'the destination marathon', offers a fast, predominantly flat course through the historic City of Chester and the striking Cheshire countryside. It crosses into North Wales, making it the UK’s only international marathon.

Growing year on year, the event is popular amongst the marathon running community, backed up by the 2013 race receiving 97% positive feedback through the Runner's World forum.
