Well, arriving at Blackheath this morning in the rain and cold, I started to ask myself why.

Still, coming originally from Charlton, with relatives still living there the first 6 miles went quickly. Then through Deptford & Surrey Quays and on to the halfway point, at which point the rain returned with a vengeance and for the second time today I thought why.

As I entered Docklands my left knee started to hurt and I found myself digging deep, unknown to me at the time this was my hardest part, through Docklands and out the other side, here is where I found my composure again, thank you Sandra for the help through the tough bit.

Down to the Tower and along the Embankment, the crowds seem to be growing all the time and I heard my name being called more often,. All I had been told about the crowds was true they were fantastic, round the Houses of Parliament and into Birdcage Walk, suddenly I found a new energy and could manage to pick up my pace, for the final half a mile or so.

Then across the line and it was over, I had finished in side 3.45, the time I had hope to do, collected my kit headed off the Macmillan Centre to meet up with my family and friends.

What a day, what an experience.
