Race Payments (July - August)

Posted: 20 August 2009

Due to technical problems we have learnt that a number of runners have not been charged for race places they have purchased through runnersworld.co.uk between July 24 and August 14.

We are currently in the process of notifying all runners and race organisers affected by this error - if you have been affected, you will receive an email from events@runnersworld.co.uk asking you to re-enter the race via a secure PayPoint.net payment page.

Please DO NOT try to re-enter the event via runnersworld.co.uk. Please follow the link contained within the email you have received as this link relates specifically to your unique transaction number and race-entry details.

At the end of the payment process, you will be re-directed to runnersworld.co.uk to confirm your booking. However, please note that you will NOT receive another entry confirmation email. Your original reference number will remain valid for all future correspondence with us or the race organiser.

If you are a runner or a race organiser, and have further questions about how you may have been affected or the secure payment process, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at events@runnersworld.co.uk.

Tryed to pay for race on line seems to be somthink blocking payments over net.

The problem with sending out emails asking for credit card details is that I am forever receiving spam emails asking me to log into my bank etc and give my card details, and I know them to be fraudulent. I really am not happy clicking a link which looks and sounds genuine, but then most of them do,  for this very reason.  Why don't you give people an address and the option to send a cheque - then those that mistrust the email limit their risk to the amount on the cheque.  Now I have seen your statement on your actual website I will pay via the link, but I can fully understand people that will not pay by this method now.

I was sceptical when I 1st received the email and would of preferred to have been allowed to pay by cheque, but when I saw your statement on this website I was happy to pay only to discover the link wouldnt work ,so i copied and pasted it to the url adress bar.

Second time of trying to pay, you can get as far as the authorise button, once pressed I'm not certain what happens, I don't get any form of confirmation so am reluctant to go through the process again in case payment has been accepted and I end up paying twice.

I believe the link is still flawed.  I'm more than happy to pay for my race entries but the link needs to be sorted first.

Somehow I seem to have been entered twice in one race,

I think it happened when I first signed up for the race I got as far as authorise button the first time but nothing happened, the second time it did go through.

I then (a few weeks later) had an email from the race organisers to say I had been entered twice but no payment taken for either.

I got in touch with runners world didnt hear any thing back but then a week or so later recived a link for both enteries to pay.

Having not heard for a while I have since made other plans for that day.

I asume that if I dont pay my race entries will be canceled.

by the sounds of the email we are enterd but have no way of paing.

I had problems with the link to, so if you are sure you have not paid( check bank statements first)

Go to www.gosportroadrunners.org.uk  chick on Gosport half marathon & print off an entry form.send completed enrty form with a cheque to address provided. The old ways are the best. see you there.

ooops got the wrong race. this happened to us to sorry.
Posted: 29/08/2009 at 15:03

This week I received an email saying my payment hadn't gone through for the Burnham Beeches Half Marathon.

The strange thing is that I made the payment over a month ago, and that I only received the mail after I'd already run the event.

Is this real?

I'm concerned that the Unique Reference Number quoted in the Reminder mail does not match the Unique Refeence number quoted in my original race confirmation mail.

This makes no sense to me and I'm not clicking links or paying anything until I know for certain that its genuine. Right now I am very suspicious.

Posted: 31/08/2009 at 21:22

I've gone back to check and yes like "Kicked-it" the Unique Reference Number quoted is different to that quoted in the original race confirmation email.

I'll go on line in the next couple of days and check my bank statements before doing anything else.

I've only just seen this and am like many others very suspicious........will check bank statement before doing anything and would advise everyone else to treat this as a hoax email until someone says otherwise!

It is not unusual for websites to be "hijacked".

What link are you talking about ?    The Lichfield RC website or UKResults LINK ?

Posted: 01/09/2009 at 11:26

The UKResults link is now closed. So you can only enter via the club website.

I shall be at the race taking photo's on the start/finish line. All photo's are FREE to download and can be found on  http://www.flickr.com/photos/baldeagle/sets

There is an email address to the organiser Bob Hoghton on the entry form

Posted: 01/09/2009 at 11:31

Any problems email the organiser Bob Hoghton on bobshoughton@aol.com
Posted: 01/09/2009 at 11:34

I also tried the link for payment for the Grimsthorpe castle 10k, the link told me the page did not exist any longer.

Any alternative methods?

I see i'm not the only one having trouble trying to pay???

I've tried the link and ended up back here, I tried calling the offices only to get sent on a round robbin. I'm happy to pay if only I could find out how.

I will try and pay on the day if that doesn't work then you have my number, call me.
