You might also like to try the Midsummer Munro on 14 June - a half marathon with a marathon's worth of effort (3000 feet up, 3000 feet down - and it's in Surrey).

Looks like one for stile hoppers and those who like playing chicken with cars from what the route description says.

Still 3k of up and down must be a great workout.

And they missed out the Roseland August Trail which actually came number 1 "other distance" race in the magazine last year.

Did the Midsummer last year (well I did 1/2 the Picnic). Fabulous run- still have nightmares over those steps. Either by luck or design, the summer sun is largely shielded by the woods around Boxhill.

Still thinking about it - have an ultra the week before.

Thames Meander is a nice course and I'd recommend it, but it's not a trail race - it's along the Thames towpath!
