Well done to Runner's World for changing its format from previous years (it had formerly published an 'editor's top 100' which was at odds with what the runners thought - and it has now dropped this).

The decision to segment the races into more than 15 votes (the same cut-off as last year) and less than 15 votes does throw up some surprises- and some lesser known gems (and begs the question of why more people don't vote!)

The link to the RW 'top 50' (races with 50+ votes) didn't work when I tried it (but it was only just published in RW Feb08, so maybe they are keeping it tothemselves for a bit).

However, overall, I think that this is a very fair way of assessing the racing scene in the UK, without the warping presence of the FLM.

Critically, every race director should examine the rating for the best and least best races, and do more of what the best races do!
