How the results were calculated

This list was calculated using ratings given by respondents on www.runnersworld.co.uk after they took part in the races. We worked out the average of the 'overall' rating runners gave races, to arrive at a figure between 0 and 100%, allowing us to rank them. This chart represents races that received between 15 and 24 responses.

What a terrific list of great races! It's silly to attempt to rank them but, even so, I'd put The White Peak Half in First Place and the rest nowhere for two reasons:

1) The course is linear, not circular, and the Start is hundreds of feet above the Finish. It's a downhill run!

2) The White Peak Trail is built on a defunct early railway that winds through historic, majestic Peak District scenery. The race finishes along a canal that was built to service Arkwright's ground-breaking Cromford Mill. You get a GCSE History Grade C if you say "Of course, the Water Frame long predated the better-known Spinning Jenny," as you cross the line.

The Neolithic Half, which isn't mentioned here, is another stunning off-road downhill race.
