Runner's World Promotion: Timex Pace Team

After 16 weeks of helping runners up and down the country - through five half-marathons and an epic 26.2 mile finale in London – the RW pacing service, partnered by Timex, has come to an end.

With pace runners on hand at Dorney Lake, Blackpool, Silverstone, Hasting and London Marathon, a total of 49,000 runners raced with us on these courses. Runner’s World and Timex would like to say a big thank you to everyone who ran with us this year - we hope to see many of you on course at future races.

London

Scattered amongst the 37,000 runners, our 22 pacers were on course at the Virgin London Marathon 2012 helping an impressive number of you cross the finish line on target and in one piece. Some of you kindly took the time to thank us for our advice and support.

‘...Your team at Runner’s World, and especially my pacers absolutely 'made' my first marathon experience. I am so grateful to your team and my pacers. They ran an absolutely perfect race’  Charlotte Pittuck

Pacing

Throughout the last 14 years the faces of our Pace Team have changed somewhat, yet the original principles of the initiative are as strong as ever – to ‘guide those new to marathons to run even splits and enjoy their race’. The team have evolved into cheerleaders, coaches, therapists and on the spot mentors, providing much needed support at those points when it matters most.

Run Trainer

Our partners for this year’s pacing service, Timex, already have an established family of speed and distance monitor products and this was no more apparent than with their new Run Trainer watch which was provided to each member of our Pace Team.

Designed to be as simple to use as possible after initial calibration, its large, easy-to-read display, sleek design and state of the art SiRF starIV GPS technology means you’ll be assisted from the first to last step you take, every time you take it out.

Continue the pacing journey

Now our pacers have shown you how it’s done, keep an eye out for two new additions to the Timex family released later this year – the first, an entry level marathon GPS watch for around £115 and a new 250-lap watch with accelerometer at around £100 – details will soon be appearing on www.timex.co.uk to help you continue enjoying the benefits of effective pacing.
