Jersey Half-Marathon (Channel Islands, November 20)
Autumn allegedly lasts longer in Jersey, and with its dramatic north cliffs offering breathtaking views, and golden sandy beaches stretching out along the coast, the island's half-marathon is a true gem.
Starting and finishing at St. Clement's athletics track, the course climbs into the centre of the island before circling down past La Houge Bie (a monument from the Neolithic age) and the impressive Mont Orgueil Castle. From there, there’s a picturesque dash across the east coast, and if the weather is fine you could catch a glimpse of France.
Santa Dash 5K (Merseyside, December 4)
Santa Dash 5K - December 4
If you fancy taking part in an audacious world record attempt while running a 5K, here's your chance. Liverpool will play host to over 4000 runners as they aim to break the record for the largest number (it's currently set at 3446) of Santas in one place. Not only will competitors receive their very own Santa costume (prizes will be awarded to the best-accessorised Santas) they'll also have the rare chance of running through Liverpool's city centre. It will feel as if Christmas has come early. Ho ho ho.
Victory 5 (Hants, December 4)
For those more inclined to traditional short-distance racing, look no further than the Victory 5. While many races date back to the running boom of the mid-1980's, this fast, flat five-miler on the south coast is 60 years old and still going strong. Run over a pleasant route and with no hills in sight, a PB is not out of the question.
