RW Previews: Cardiff KRUF 10K, Sept 14

Speed, sights, and a superb stadium

Posted: 26 August 2003

Where and when?
Sunday, September, 14, Cardiff.

What is it?
Now in its 18th year, this 2000-strong run takes in the city centre as well as the scenic Parklands and Cardiff castle. The race finshes with a dash around the Millenium Stadium.

What you said:
Forum member Dave Thomas reckons that the event is, "without any shadow of a doubt the finest 10K race in the UK." Impressive stuff.

Fellow forumite Paul Reese declared that, "If you’re a rugby or football fan, this is the race for you. The atmosphere is electric ... When I reached the stadium the first time I did it, the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end."

What the organisers say:
More modestly: "It’s a fast, flat course around some great city sites."

What RW says:
It may be little-known outside of Wales, but it does have a good city centre course; 54th in RW’s top 100 races of 2002.

Watch out for:
That lap around the Millennium Stadium - a real centrepiece for the race.

Any extras?
