The Asics Fleet Pre-London Half-Marathon had special appeal this year as every finisher was promised a 25th-anniversary medal.
Brilliant sunshine greeted nearly 2,500 who lined up in Calthorpe Park on March 19, but strong winds meant that, once started, many struggled to be fleet of foot.
Toby Lambert's winning time of 1:09:09 bore eloquent testament to the conditions, being the slowest for five years, though Debbie Coslett shaved 2:16 off last year's fastest women's time with her 1:18:44.
Some runners missed the early mile markers and would have liked them bigger and brighter, but everyone praised the superb organisation and efficient baggage tent, and the post-race massage went down particularly well.
