RW Race Report - Beverley 10K

Where Beverley, East Yorkshire
When May 13, 2007
First Man Darran Bilton 31:02
First Woman Melanie Haywards 36:31

The Beverley 10K in east Yorkshire has sold out well before race day for the past few years and the 2007 event on May 13 was no exception.

A large proportion of the 1,200 runners lining up to start the race were local unattached runners keen to support their market town’s annual 10K.

It may be an achievable distance for new runners but it’s not an easy course, and the steady climb along Newbald Road and over Westwood is gruelling even though it comes early in the race.

A hot and humid day put paid to fast times for many but Darran Bilton found the conditions perfect, leading the field home 31:02 with Melanie Haywards first lady in 36:31.
