When December 30, 2007
First Man Matthew Barnes-Smith 30:54
First Woman Felicity Milton 34:35

An overcast day didn’t detract from the beauty of the Cambridge countryside for runners at the Ely New Year’s Eve 10K on December 30.

Bagpipers at the start and at the 9K point serenaded the 549 participants who tackled Downham Common and Westmore Common, before ending up at Little Downham’s Village Hall for the presentation of prizes.

An engraved pewter tankard went to winner Matthew Barnes-Smith for his time of 30:54, while first woman Felicity Milton’s time of 34:35 won her a matching engraved goblet.

No runner left empty handed: there was a bottle of ale for everyone who finished.
