Nearly 500 faced the Arctic winds round the lanes of Fradley, near Lichfield in Staffordshire on March 20.
Race organisers sometimes have a strange notion of what constitutes "flat", but in this case their claims proved mercifully true. After two laps round the PB-promoting and largely traffic-free route, runners were welcomed by the theme from Chariots of Fire.
Neil Renault was first through the doors in a speedy 31:43, while Debbie Walters, first lady, was not far behind in 36:13.
