The Kingston Festival of Running on October 14 offered runners the opportunity to tackle a 16-mile or 8.2-mile loop from the Surrey town along the Thames towpath past Hampton Court Palace and through Thames Ditton before returning to finish in the historic market place.

The two-lap longer race attracted more than 600 runners – many training for the New York City Marathon in November – and was won by Anthony Lashmar in 1:34:25, with Laura Cowley first lady in 1:41:06.

In the shorter – and more popular – 8.2-mile race Tom Kingsnorth won in 45:19 with Angela Hibbs first lady in 50:32.
