Where Rocester, Staffordshire
When July 17, 2008
First Man Ben Gamble 26:04
First Woman Adela Salt 30:55
The advantage of evening races is that you can reward yourself with a beer immediately afterwards without feeling guilty – and that’s what the majority of the 321 runners who completed the Lakeside 5 on July 17 did.
After negotiating a vertiginous climb in the first mile, runners made short work of the rest of the flattish route round the grounds of the JCB staff private sports ground in Rocester, Staffordshire, before piling into the clubhouse afterwards for a pint or two of well-deserved refreshment.
Ben Gamble was first man in 26:04 and Adela Salt was first woman in 30:55.
