The hilly course of the Magnificent 7 at Saltash in Cornwall is testing at the best of times; on July 16 with the sun beating down and temperatures nudging 30ºC it was even more of a challenge.

Even so, the event was a sell-out with 350 runners lining up to tackle this road race with great views of the Tamar Estuary. The organisers provided plenty of water to keep runners cool, and a few obliging locals helped out by giving runners a hose-pipe dousing.

David Buzza had no problem keeping his cool; he won the race in 39:21, with Zelah Morrals first lady in 45:56.
