The Not The Roman IX race near Stratford upon Avon in Warwickshire on January 20 was many runners’ first competitive run since the Christmas break.
This popular 12K, organised by Stratford AC, proved to be just the challenge they needed. A friendly atmosphere among the runners and encouraging marshals helped competitors up the challenging hill section in the middle of the scenic course, while good organisation helped the event run smoothly before and after the race.
However, some competitors felt a little short-changed with the diary they received as a memento. Gary Payne was first home
in 41:54, with Sue Harrison first lady in 44:13.
