Where Brockenhurst, Hampshire
When April 12, 2009
First Man Pete Davis 35:02
First Woman Georgie Gair 40:10
After a near-apocalyptic deluge in the 2008 race, a mercifully mild and overcast Easter morning greeted the 350 runners for the third Oakhaven Easter 10K on April 12.
The rural nature of the race was underlined to runners on the start line by the sight of hundreds of deer galloping over the horizon.
The route was a looping multi-terrain course that wove its way through the picturesque New Forest across woodland paths and gravel tracks.
Sadly for Bank Holiday over-indulgers, most of the short but steep hills were saved for the second half of the race.
Pete Davis was the first man home in 35:02 with Georgie Gair the first female finisher in 40:10.
