Where Stourbridge, West Midlands
When February 8, 2009
First Man Paul Mountford 1:03:19
First Woman Phillippa Morris 1:15:02
A week of Arctic conditions in the Black Country meant that the 400 participants in the Stourbridge Stagger on February 8 were dressed in their warmest togs.
About an hour into the 10-mile course, watery sun finally began a patchy thaw of both ground and runners, and hats and gloves were quickly discarded. Icy paths turned to ankle-deep mud as the course veered through fields and over the ‘foothills’ of Clent, challenging weary legs with 11 (yes, 11!) stiles.
First man was Paul Mountford in 1:03:19, while first woman was Phillippa Morris in 1:15:02.
