First Woman Suze Lidbury 6:30

Many of the 105 competitors were experiencing their first steps into ultra-marathons in the second running of the MOB Tring to Town Ultra 45 on January 28. Most of the field were training for the multi-day Marathon des Sables, and Marathon of Britain later in the year.

The runners had to brave very cold temperatures - and a final 10 miles of darkness for those mortals who did not manage to finish in daylight - along a frozen Grand Union Canal Towpath from Tring in Hertfordshire to Little Venice in London.

Jez Bragg won the event for the second time, taking over 80 minutes off his 2005 time to finish in 5:19. (That's sub- three-hour marathon pace all the way, which underlines his position as one of the top ultra runners in the UK). The ladies' title was won by Suze Lidbury in a speedy 6:30.
