Not for nothing is Kent nicknamed the Garden of England – the 26th running of the Children’s Mutual Tunbridge Wells Half-Marathon on February 15 was a thoroughly enjoyable gallop through some of the county’s finest countryside.

The single-lap road race did contain several testing hills, including one real brute around the seven-mile mark, which left many beginners whimpering for mercy.

Race-day atmosphere was vibrant and there was a turnout of over 1,600 participants.

Organisation was impeccable and post-race facilities were good, with all finishers receiving an impressive goody bag, T-shirt and medal.

First man was Florian Neuschwander in 1:08:49 and first woman was Tina Oldershaw in 1:22:57.
