Where Weymouth, Dorset
When October 20, 2007
First Man Ian Cardy 54:44
First Woman Stephanie Slade 1:05:29
An overcast, relatively still day greeted runners taking part in the 46th Weymouth 10 on October 20.
The 10-mile seaside race started with two miles along the esplanade before runners climbed Bowleze Hill to tackle two three-mile loops through a caravan park before retracing their steps for the last two miles back along the seafront.
Spectators offered enthusiastic encouragement all the way to the finish and runners congratulated organisers on the post-race goodies – a baseball cap made an unusual race memento and an energy bar helped with the refuelling process.
Ian Cardy’s impressive win in 54:44 equalled the course record, while Stephanie Slade was first lady home with a time of 1:05:29.
