RW Race Report - Wolverhampton Marathon (and Half)

Posted: 8 February 2007

Where Wolverhampton, Staffordshire
When September 3, 2006
First Man Shaun Milford 2:39:42 (Mark Dalkins 01:11:11)
First Woman Lisa Joanne Barry 3:15:51 (Kim Green 01:20:14)

This year's Wolverhampton Marathon and Half-Marathon on September 3 saw a record field tackle the undulating course around the town's streets.

Runners in both events set off together, with those taking part in the marathon coming round for a second lap. Hundreds of cheering supporters lined the route, handing out sweets and drinks and encouraging runners to keep going on the gentle inclines.

It's hard to fault this well organised and increasingly popular series of races but a number of runners did have one gripe: the poor quality of the medal.

Shaun Milford won the marathon in 2:39:42 while Lisa Joanne Barry led the ladies home in 3:15:51. Mark Dalkins was first in the half with 01:11:11 and Kim Green won the ladies' race in 01:20:14.
