Why do it Billed as the biggest sporting event in Aquitaine, this is a distance to have a go at once in your lifetime. Events over 100K are surprisingly popular in France and this one is definitely the best of them, with a beautiful route snaking through the heart of the Dordogne, châteaux galore and some 25 high-quality feeding stations along the way. Alternatively, if you dont like the thought of all those endless kilometres on your own, accompanying cyclists are allowed from the 10km point onwards for an extra €15.

Other information Maximum time allowed: 20 hours. Pasta party (€11) on the Friday night and typical regional meal (€15) on the Saturday night (if youve finished the race by then!) can also be booked. Breakfasts on Saturday or Sunday cost an additional €5. Showers and massages available.
Getting there By road take the D936 from Bordeaux to the east; after Bergerac its the D660 then the D29, D51 and Belvès is on the D710. By rail Belvès is on the Paris-Agen line, and coaches will be organised from Bordeaux station. By air theres a local airport at Belvès (change in Paris) or fly direct to Bordeaux.
Where to stay Hotels, gîtes, chambres dhôtes and camping are all abundant. If youre looking for the cheapest option, some bunks are available in the local school (€10/night) or you can bed down in the gym if you bring a sleeping bag (€3/night) the race secretary will provide accommodation details on request.
