I DID IT! (in 4:20:22 min.) I can still walk today! Thanks to all my supporters I have collected over £1,300 for the Outward Bound and I feel very pleased.
Yes, it was a WONDERFUL experience as all my friends that have done it told me. Yes, I did not use new socks, I did watch Chariots of Fire, I did use lots of Vaseline... and all the other tips I was given have been remembered and applied.
Here is briefly what I recall of the day. It went like a shot; 4 hrs felt like 1hr. I was running between two rhinos for a while; I did see the phone box and the fire brigade, the Flintstone, superman and thunderbird and bananas in pyjamas and many many more fun costumes. It was a live festival the whole time with bands and buses full of balloons and a fantastic and enthusiastic crowd all the way along pushing runners with their support. Impossible to run any faster for the first half as the amount of other BRAVE people was around me for the whole 26.2 miles. I even saw bleeding nipples, bleeding legs (both cases men) and again men showing naked butts and boobs (fake for their sake)!
