Brilliant experience although desperately wet, especially the last 2 miles in torrential rain where something else. I was amazed that people were still actually cheering me on despite the rain and the fact that after 5 and a half hours I was still just plodding along.
I really enjoyed the day and cherish my medal as it was a long struggle, with severe asthma problems nearly forcing me to pull out at mile 20 and me crying my eyes out because I didn't want to stop seen that I got that far. The weather was something else, the organisation top class and the people around the course tremendous. I barged into an officials tent after the race, where the staff was very kind to let me just recover beside the heater. Recovery took about an hour, so I am much obliged to the overseas staff officials. Thank you very much.
