Days (and nights) in the desert prove brutal for our Marathon des Sables blogger.
Stage 3 (22 miles in 31C heat): 4:34:30
Stage 4 (51 miles in 39C heat): 14:10:25
Jamie says: I finished the long stage last night, running 51 miles in just over 14 hours. It was brutal. The terrain was relentless - it started with a climb that made the Devon ultra look flat and continued to be horrid. 20K of dunes and the rest on very uneven ground. I got in just before 10:30pm, immediately threw up and had to spend 40 minutes in the medical tent.
This is by far the hardest thing I have ever done. My body is slowly shutting down, everyone's emails are massively helping and knowing you are all behind me gives me a massive lift.
My feet look like they have been run over by a hippo and I scratched my cornea two days ago so can't see out of one eye. I hope I can make it through - we have a marathon tomorrow followed by 10 miles on Saturday.
Jamie's words say it all - it doesn't get much tougher than the Marathon des Sables. If you're as awed by his progress as we are at RW Towers, you can sponsor Jamie online.
