In short: A very well organised race In full: To find a town centre blocked off to mark race direction with barriers is unusual. Main problem,if any, we came to a stop twice not long after start when traversing the underpass.
Definite PB potential and really well organised, especially with pre race information Date of review: September 6, 2016
In short: Good job! In full: Minor gripes aside, bottle neck at the beginning, limited group warm up and no goody bag (who doesn't like a goody bag!) this is a really good race. Pretty much flat throughout, the organisation is superb and the pacers were very good. Definite PB potential and an enjoyable race. The marshals were excellent and the cub scouts supporting the event were very efficient. Well done! I hope to do this event again for many years to come. Date of review: September 5, 2016
In short: Good well run event In full: This is a good relatively cheap HM. The set up is excellent with parking close by and a very good and secure bag drop in the town hall. Plenty of seating as well for before and after. Number pick up simple. Course itself is very flat with a couple of pinch points early on and underpasses being only issues. Water tables need to be longer. Good medal and a pretty relaxed finish. First time I've done a Purple Patch event and the only real issue was it should really be on Runbritain. It is certainly an event for PBs. For the price the HM is very good value. Date of review: September 5, 2016
In short: A great race with brilliant organisation In full: Well done Purple Patch on another amazingly well organised race. Everything was thought about. A lovely race with some pretty scenery, v flat and pacers. I've done this twice now and I will be back. Date of review: September 4, 2016
In short: Nice and flat and my hometown race In full: First time actually making it to the start line of this race after being ill on previous years. Was special as this was my hometown race and it went past the end of my parents road so I had some fantastic support :-) Overall the race holds great PB potential as it is nice and flat and quite sheltered. The pace teams were excellent and were great at keeping some of the runners spirits up! The scenery was, well one of my regular runs so it was very familiar but still great nonetheless. Will enter every year until I can't bend down to put my running shoes on. Could do with a goody bag and not just a medal, water and a banana - but you can't ask for everything! In short: Good PB race, nice route and atmosphere In full: Enjoyable race on a slightly sunny day. Route was fine, country roads, next to the river, through the town and despite being 2 laps was fine. Crowded at the start and through the subway but evened out soon after. Got a PB despite having a head cold and recovering from injuries so well pleased. Date of review: September 23, 2015
In short: Excellent In full: Great race on flat rural roads. Definite PB potential with no switchbacks other than going through an underpass twice. Good support and enough drinks stations. Would do it again! Date of review: September 14, 2015
In short: Excellent no-nonsence superbly organised race. In full: The charm of this race is it's low-key no fuss. Just gets on with it. If I have a slight niggle it is the recent introduction of pacers. I got forced into the kerb with a couple of sharp elbows in my ribs by one impregnable group who formed a barrier that you couldn't get round. Let people run their own race. In short: Well organised, flat and fast In full: I enjoyed this one. No issues before the start, number picked up and bag dropped off with minimum fuss. Race start was conveniently located in the town centre. Two laps isn't 100% ideal but the course was a nice rural one, and the lovely weather made it seem quite picturesque. I wasn't chasing a PB, using the run as an MP session for Berlin, but potential was there for fast times for sure - no hills of any significance and wide, straight roads for the majority of the race. Would run again Date of review: September 7, 2015
In short: Well run event In full: Easy free parking nearby in multi-story, nice start area, right in the centre of town, handy wetherspoons for drinks/snacks.
Scenic route, the second lap doesn't loop past the start again, so doesn't feel like laps. Great marshals, particularly at the last water stop - we could hear them from about half a mile away! Enough water on a sunny day
The only real inclines are on bridges and the underpasses at the start and end.
Didn't use the baggage drop as parking so close. Highly recommended. Date of review: September 7, 2015
