In short: Lovely (quick) course, incredibly friendly marshalls and organisers, good organisation.
In full: I will definately do this smallish race again. Despite constant lashing rain, the warmth of the marshalls, organisers and even a few (brave) spectators, made this a really enjoyable morning. The course is fast with only a couple of hills (although for this part of the world, they stand out!). Plenty of awards and categories and a lovely goody bag (the crisps were even more welcome than the beer) also serve as an incentive. Although most runners were from clubs (myself included) it was heartening to see that they were of all levels and abilities, and it certainly didn't feel intimidating. Any non club runners would undoubtedly have been made to feel as welcome as we were. Well done Black Dog. Looking forward to improving times for next year.

In short: Atrocious weather made the organisation even more impressive, marshals being that cheerful throughout must have been on something!
In full: The weather had to be seen to be believed, however this seemed to have no effect on the organisation. From arrival to leaving afterwards, the impression given to me as a runner was that everything went extremely smoothly, as someone with long term experience of marshalling I know it doesn't work like that. A very well deserved Gold rated event!

In short: Undulating course but really well organised and great fun
In full: Considering the conditioning this was great race . It threw it down with rain all day but all marshalls and helpers did so with a smile on their face. The free hot soup afterwards was a great touch. With an undulating course and great ornaisation this is a race i don't think i will ever get bored of.

In short: Great East Run is definitely great even when the weather makes it more challenging. Such a friendly race, really well-marshalled.

In short: A very wet and hilly run.
In full: I ran the 10km race, which was an enjoyable run. There were a few hills along the way but all worth it when you get back to receive free soup and a goodie bag!!

In short: Challenging hills and road camber, mixed with picturesque Suffolk Countryside.
In full: Having already done my first half marathon last month, this was my first proper 20k event, which I used for Norwich Half Marathon training in a couple of weeks. My Garmin packed up at the start due to the torrential rain which made conditions even more challenging. The hills at the beginning and end of this event are not to be taken lightly. The views are excellent, whilst the organisation by BBDRC and an abundance of marshalls make this a joy to run with their encouragement. Plus at the end there was hot soup, hot drinks, and Adnams Ales in goodie bag. Definitely be returning next year!!!
