In short: Hard work, but worth it In full: My god when they say hilly half, they aint kidding. It's a killer!! But really good fun, with a beer at the end for your troubles. There are some flat and downhill bits, but as you run down you get the realisation that you're gonna have to go back again as the front runners come boming past you in the opposite direction!! Well worth the money, I said never again afterwards, but am already poised to put my application in for this year! Date of review: February 26, 2014
In short: Another excellent run - organisation, weather and scenery. In full: A great run, definite PW material but that's what makes it fun. Long hills, uneven terrain, bonkers marshals and a beer for finishing - all elegant touches. Date of review: December 11, 2013
In short: Enjoyable as usual In full: Much less mud this year - seemed a bit strange not to have mud over the ankles. Good to have the morris dancer helping us up the hill. Rob seems to organise the best weather each year, with sunny intervals in November!
In full: A mudtastic romp through glorious Somerset countryside. Be prepared - read the reviews before entering, invest in some good trail shoes and train on those hills. Then enjoy the day! My first off-road half, I knew no one else but felt a real part of one passionate and rather masochistic community - fabulous! The friendly marshals with their endless encouragement, handing out jelly sweets and Jaffa cakes made me feel like a carefree kid. The other quirky touches (God Save the Queen at the start, the Fool on the Hill and carrots and beer at the finish) add to the atmosphere. And a great T shirt and medal to boot. A must in next year''s Calendar. Thanks Trionium and all your able helpers! Date of review: November 26, 2013
