In short: 100% in every department. It's going to rapidly become a classic marathon, right up there with the likes of Beachy Head, New Forest and Snowdonia. In full: After a restless night in the tent with my ribs still hurting and Thomas waking up a few times, I was not very confident about stage two of my marathon double. Unlike yesterday's marathon this one had a 7 hour cut off time and I was a little bit concerned about being pulled out (never happened before) and ending up a DNF (has happened before). I was even in two minds if I should run or not, but eventually convinced myself that there was only going to be one way to find out if I could do it and that was to run the thing - I'm so, so glad that I did. This was the inaugural Purbeck Marathon (I seem to be doing a lot of those this year) and I knew it was going to be as tough if not tougher than yesterday's, having trained on some of this course with my Littledown Harrier club-mates. I have also run the Swanage half marathon twice and the infamous Beast five times which follows some of the route of the Purbeck Marathon. Like the Swanage half the finish was right on the sea-front, but unlike that event the start was high up on the downs with fantastic views over the surrounding area and the Isle of Wight - If you would like to read more then check out my full blog here at http://60in60at60.com/2012/09/18/m38-purbeck/ Date of review: September 24, 2012

In short: demanding but rewarding In full: for my first marathon it was a bit of a test with more hills than I have seen on any run!!!!lol but the support and marshals were phenomenal they kept me going through the pain and come the end when I had nothing left they just cheered you on ....brilliant. A very demanding course but so rewarding with outstanding scenery. Im already planning to do it next year. Well done the organisers Date of review: September 22, 2012

In short: Fabulously well organised, completely awesome event - in my top 2! In full: Completely agree with everything positive said before. Massive congratulations to the organisers on a top notch race with top notch organisation. I have never put so much effort into so many hills on a run before, but likewise never had so much constant reward thrown back from views and atmosphere. This run is sheer inspiration! In short: Simply awesome! The greatest views and atmosphere at a hugely challenging course! In full: From Poole I regularly walk and train on the Purbecks - but this course inspired - it made the most of the scenery the history and the views. Well-organised, friendly and historic! In short: Hard as hell but sooo worth it! Roll on next year! In full: Don't really know where to start! Unsurpassed scenery, extremely well marshalled and signed. Everyone was so friendly, supportive and encouraging. Fab techy shirt and beer AND icecream. Beautiful finish on Swanage sea front and a restorative dip in the sea to ease those aching muscles. Can't fault it and can't wait for next year. Unforgettable! Date of review: September 18, 2012
