In short: Great Race again course seems easier now. Still tough In full: Once again a great race my favourite and one i look forward to running. Nothing wrong on the day weather parking support course and t shirt all fantastic especially the t shirt. My only issue is with the ballot system to enter the race that they brought in this year. I felt it was needless and clearly open to abuse and it had caused the race director some ammount of stress judging by his emails etc. in my opinion i hate ballots they are never as fair as they make out and i know there is the reasoning that it gives everyone a chance to enter not just the quickest on the keyboard but if you really want to do a race or see a band and tickets go on sale at X time on X date then you make the effort to be near a computer at X time on X date and if it fills in 10min it just shows what a great race you already have at least you get the people doing it who really want to do it not just the casual people who just enter a ballot then end up swapping dropping out or not turning up. Great race hope its not ruined by the red tape this year had. Date of review: April 24, 2014
In short: Brutal and beautiful In full: I knew it would be tough, I knew the terrain and that there would be at least one muddy bog and that it would hurt and in all these respects, I certainly wasn't disappointed! It's taken nearly 2 weeks to recover from my efforts.
In the end I managed 69th and just under 3 hours which I was thrilled with on such a tough course but what a great race. The organisation was excellent including nice things like free parking in local pay & displays nearby, literally hundreds of marshals on the course along with bands, cheering locals and visitors the whole route and so much more including the Cub race (shorter version) and a great deal going on in Seaton the whole weekend not just race day.
If you want an exceptionally tough challenge, try and get a place in this one next year!

In short: Worth doing just for the atmosphere In full: This was my 4th Grizzly, the 3rd having been 12 years ago. I can not recommend this race highly enough, the atmosphere was superb, from the 200 marshals on the course to the spectators cheering us all on, this in itself makes the race a winner. Add in some mud, some hills, some bogs and some shingly beaches and this makes the whole event a very rewarding if tough challenge. To cap it all off, the technical t-shirt at the end was the nicest I have seen handed out at any race. Date of review: March 17, 2014

In short: still the greatest race around In full: amazing again what a difference a year makes from baking sun in 2012 to snow and wind in 2013 if you didnt love this race and want to do it again again then you must be crazier than those of us who do. Date of review: March 20, 2013
