In short: A nice run in the countryside
In full: Good support around the course, marshalls were great. Chip timing needs to be introduced though. Nice and challenging mildly, ran well, missed pb by 25 secs so a bit gutted.

In short: Good village race
In full: Nothing to fault with this race. Well organised, plenty of encouraging marshals, good traffic management, excellent race facilities at the school, lovely medal, all in all a great day out for a bargainous price (a few cheeky inclines on the way round though!)

In short: First time on the 10 mile option
In full: I've run the Hook 6 for the last two years and decided to give the 10 mile race a go this year. It was a more undulating course than I had anticipated, but that may have also had something to do with the fact that I'd gone out too fast and had had a bit of a tummy bug in the days leading up to the race so by 3 miles I was a bit spent. However, I was only around a minute outside my 10 mile PB.

The event is a great one to do for all abilities , very well organised and the marshals are very encouraging. The medal was the same as last year but had the year on the ribbon - my only suggestion would maybe to differentiate the medals for the distances, perhaps by having a different coloured ribbon. Other than that it's a great community event, there's good support from the locals and I'll be back next year.

In short: Most friendly race I have taken part in
In full: Everything appeared well organised, everyone friendly, and extremely good value. Did not really need chip timing for a small field (about 250 in the 10 mile race) so no big deal that it was not provided.

Only minor thing was having to pick my way past the 6 mile runners at the end, but they were easily avoided.

Lots of decent support from the Hook residents and people on the course, and a decent "big" finish as well with the barriers and support.

Lots of stuff to keep spectators entertained - kids did not want to go home!

In short: An all family, all experience level event. Something for everyone.
In full: A group visit from SE London to a mate who lives in the village of Hook. He boasted about the friendliness of this event, it's PB potential and A MEDAL. We had to come. Glad we did.
The event had ample parking for those who drove (we walked from mates place). Enough facilities for changing, toilet, bag storage and pre-race warm up. There was a great loud speaker, a warm up routine with fancy dress and good staggered starts for the separate events.
The course was very well marked out with coned off areas and brilliant marshals. Traffic was patient and I made a point to thank drivers, marshals and helpers alike (as I think ALL RUNNERS SHOULD). Plenty of water stations too.
The course was generally flat (one or two rises which needed only digging into), through some nice countryside. Once off the more busy road sections, we were blessed with views of beautiful expensive houses, quaint pubs and some lovely wooded areas. This course is certainly a PB potential. Indeed, of the 4 of us adults that ran the 10 mile - 2 of us got PBs (I myself stuck with and encouraged (bullied) our hosting mate in order to get him his PB).
The weather threatened rain but it held off and it was cool enough not to cause concen. Our families took part in the 2.5 fun / race and were chuffed to get a quality medal (as did us lads). The fete held in the school grounds kept everyone entertained and fed till the end of the event.
The male announcer at the end kept the crouds gee'd up for the later arrivals, encouraging claps and cheers. If I were to have any critisism it would be perhaps having a results list of all finnishers as well as having them split into genders - but I'm being fussy.

In conclusion - Best encouraging, smiling, clapping, directing marshals, of all ages, I have had the pleasure to meet. If I were not to have stuck with my mate I would CERTAINLY have obtained a cracking PB (sure to have been sub 1.12). I suspect that I will be back next year to get my PB.

In short: Very well organised
In full: This was a very enjoyable and well organiosed race and one that I would definitely do again. The facilities were good, with ample parking available and the school site (with fete) providing an ideal start/ finish area. It was good to run the 6M and the 2.5M fun run as part of the same event, really giving something for everyone. The 10M course was a good one, fairly flat but hilly and varied enough to be interesting, reasonably scenic and extremely well marshalled and traffic-controlled where necessary. Particular credit goes to the young helpers at the ample water stations, very helpful, well organised and professional. All in all a very enjoyable community-type run. No gimmicks or lavish goody bags but just a very good value event.

In short: An excellent, well organised race which caters for everybody
In full: Club commitments mean I have not run this race for four years, but it was great to be back again & I will definitely not leave it so long next time! There is always a great atmosphere at the school & the route is interesting; not too hilly & leaves open the possibility of a PB. Organisation is very good & I think I counted five water stations today! Well done to all concerned.
