In short: Nice Old Fashioned Countryside Race.
In full: Plenty of ups and downs, one steep hill in the middle, but overall testing, not not too demanding. Better if there was a start line as had to ask exactly where it was - even the starter took 10 mins to find it!!! LOL Village hall was a brilliant place to hold the event - next time I'll bring some money! as plenty of sandwiches, cakes etc etc to buy. Parking easy - large field a couple of hundred yards from the hall. Two water stations with bottled water - cheers! Marshalls excellent. A really really good race - really!

In short: Great hills and friendly atmosphere!
In full: I was part of a group from serpentine running club who stopped by on the way to the lakes to fit in a good 10 mile race - we were not disappointed. Super race with good hills, decent country roads and good organisation. Marshalls were friendly and encouraging in what was a pretty perfect race. I'll be back next year.

In short: The weather was perfect, the rain held off, leaving the hills as the challenge for the day......A perfect Good Friday
In full: Thrd time I've run this race. Starting to get the hang of it.
For those that like hills this was heaven sent!
The first couple of miles are more or less down hill, need to keep your pace in check, as the next 5 miles are more climbs than drops. Between 5 & 7 miles is tough (gut wrenching, well very nearly!) Tough run but very satisfying. The people of the small village make you very welcome, and the race was well run and marshalled. Thank you to the organizers, helpers and villagers. Hope to be back again next year.

In short: Tough for begginer but well worth it.
In full: The hills were tough for my first 10mile race as am not used to them, but was a good challenge and would definitely recommend.

In short: Hard race with brilliant scenery.
In full: This one brought new meaning to the word "undulating"! Very hilly, hard route, but lovely running down country lanes with sheep & newborn lambs to look at.
Did the 4 mile fun run too, which was good for all abilities & kids.

In short: A tough ten miler!
In full: After a nice first couple of miles, we were then faced with some long hills and sharp declines making this a great challenge but certainly not one for PB chasers.

Thankfully the scenary is great so you occasionally could forget about the pain you were feeling and, we got so high up, I could see the sea! Parking was OK and the marshalls were good generally but the medal was the same for the fun run and the 10 miler. However, the race is a cheap one and the extra water station before the last big hill was a nice surprise. Calder Vale is a lovely isolated village setting for this testing Lancashire treat.

In short: A tough challenge but very rewarding
In full: After a 2 mile fast start you then face 7 miles of hills. It is a tough race but very rewarding. Do not enter for a PB but if you want a challenge that will benefit your training then look no further.
