In short: Good for first half marathon
In full: The race was friendly and well-organised, and I enjoyed the course - in particular the Portway section, which I found better than the City Centre section which doubled back on itself too many times for my liking. My only minor gripe was that they had run out of of small or even medium t-shirts when I arrived at the finish at 2hr20 (I ended up with a large which swamps me)!! I'm not sure why they bothered asking your size on registration really. Other than that I can't fault it.

In short: Brilliant for a first timer
In full: My first ever HM which has really inspired me.
Very well organised event with plenty of water and energy stations. The crowd were amazing. I enjoyed it so much and my time wasn't too bad.
Good marshalling. In fact it was lots of fun and I'm sure I'll be doing it again.

Great medal and a very nice t-shirt and goodie bag.

In short: Great race plenty chance of P.B
In full: Brilliant race and a PB possibility, the start is a bit messy with two starts with two waves also the results service could had been better as results given on the Run Britain site only goes up to the 3000 finisher also gun times weren't given and when contacted reason given is that how the organizers wanted it.

In short: Good but should be better
In full: The Portway 7 miles are a bit dull - even if they do have the Clifton Suspension Bridge - but it is useful to spread the pack and maintain your target pace. The oggy, oggy, oggy tradition in the tunnel is good fun. The last 3 miles through town seem under-supported and the twists and turns break your stride. It can be very difficult to get back across to the University side of town after the race.

In short: Undoubtedly a Big Race, but none the worse for it.
In full: Overall, this was a very good event.
There was ample car parking and the bag storage was a nice touch. The loo-queue was very long, but that was partly my fault for arriving late.
The White start seemed to be a right mixed bag, as there must have been 95+ minute runners in it, even though there were the elites at the front,so the 1st mile was by far the slowest. No worse than many other big races though.
By the Portway, people spread out and it was mostly a test of pacing one's self. The course then got more urban and interesting after about 7M. I didn't like the short, sharp inclines and sliproads, but lively crowd support made the last 5 miles seem that little bit easier. Gels on route was also nice, and I managed to set a PB.
After the race, the organisation was good, though a lot of us never got the promised Costa vouchers in out goody bags and the T-shirts seemed to be very big. I got a Small and it's a great technical T, but as an average sized bloke I feel sorry for any small runners!

In short: I love the City of Bristol so wanted to run it
In full: I thought the race was superbly organised, only my second half, being on a par with Bath. I loved the race village, lots of loos and no crowding, good starting pens. Lost the will to live going out along the Portway, notmuch support and bit of a slog, preferred it back in the city.Fab marshall ( lady )on the home straight who was very encouraging even though I was in the last 1000 back she was still very vocal ! would deff do it again.
