In short: Excellent!
In full: One of my running club buddies called it the "walk and stumble" and they weren't wrong! If you're a slower runner like me make sure you buy your cake beforehand and then just relax and enjoy!!

In short: very challenging but rewarding
In full: first timer so didn't know what to expect. excellent instructions at race start. from start to finish was very challenging, even after overcoming the brutal hills the rest of the course was a mix of shin high mud or water. a big thanks to the marshalls who encouraged all the way and all the ladies for the hot drink and cakes. organisation brilliant. will hopefully be back next year.

In short: CALNE Vixens and Julie LAST PLACE MARSHALL
In full: This was our first time and I think we underestimated, or didn't do our homework, the route. We ran, walked (alot) and laughed a lot. The scenery is stunning and he course is challenging to say the least, mud, water, hills, more hills, more mud.... Our time was not a PB! by anyones standard, but what fun.
Thank you to all the organisers and marshals (especially Julie) and oh those wonderful wonderful cakes.

In short: Hill, mud, hill, more mud, hill, big hill, mud, puddle, hill, cake! :-)
In full: Fantastic race, very welcoming to the independent and novice runner and challenging for club runners alike. It's a rather hilly course but don't let that put you off, all of them are runnable (except one!). Can get muddy in places if it's been raining like this year (2013) so be prepared!

Great organisation, great route, great hills (except one) and not to forget the great cakes but be quick as they go fast!

In short: Bring on the mud and hills!
In full: Another year, another brilliant Rough n Tumble race. plenty of course preparation (rain) the day before, the weather was absolutely glorious for race, beautiful views from the tops of the hills. the hills are as hard as ever, although the sticky rather than slippery mud made the going a bit easier. I expected it to be wetter, but there were plenty of puddles and mud around to make it interesting, it was much squishier than last year!
The cake selection was awesome, and for the slower runners, the ladies were keeping aside cake bought before the race. The marshals were all lovely, and happily shouting encouragement, and joking about upcoming hills.
Overall, a really well organised race over some beautiful parts of Wiltshire. I hope to be back next year.

In short: Wiltshire Countryside at its best
In full: If you like multi terrain races then this is a classic and this years weather set it up brilliantly. The weeks of rain meant that the going was 'good to soft' but the sun shone on us all the way round. If Milton Lilbourne had hot showers, this could be my favourite race ever but it's well up there with The Exmoor Stagger, The Terminator and Race the Train.

In full: Never found myself laughing hysterically whilst up to my shins in thick mud. Wading through knee deep icy mud & sludge brought tears to my eyes, but well worth it. Everyone very friendly and always a fellow runner on hand to pick you up if you slip in the mud. Only disappointment was that there was no cake left at the end :(
