In short: Fast Flat Course 2 Laps - not very scenic - quick field In full: Well organised series of evening runs. Not very scenic but good for a pb. Lots of club runners but some recreational runners too - everyone made welcome and a nice buzz about the race. No medal (good :) ) - T-Shirt available for 2.50 - Bargain. I'll be back on December 7th for the prologue to the 2015 series Date of review: November 28, 2014
In short: Very well organised In full: This race was very well organised, the race director was approachable and willing to answer questions and the marshals were friendly and supportive. A great race for runners going on their own or in groups. Date of review: August 28, 2014
In short: awful route In full: loved the massive car parks, shops and momento. hated the route which included laps around the car park! only one water stop!!very demoralising to be lapped by over half the field. will not be back I'm afraid Date of review: June 9, 2014
In short: A well organised, possibly PB race, but too hot on the day. In full: A fast flat course, but the heat made the going very tough. There was only one drinks station on route, and my cup was only a quarter full.
The course was rather dull, running twice round an Industrial Estate, but on a cooler day, would have seen some faster times. An 11.00 start was a bit unfortunate due to the temperature, and an earlier start would have been preferable.
I think the increase in entries was due to the race being given HRRL rating, but there were an awful lot of did not starts. Date of review: June 8, 2014
In full: Hot, hot, hot! Run at the lakeside centre, free parking and lots of toilets, shops open for family to get refreshments, route consisted of laps but I don't mind laps, plus your family get to see you more! It was very hot today and glad I ran with my own water, I would be suprised if there will be pb's today because of the heat. Nice momento, chip timing too, will be back next year Date of review: June 8, 2014
In short: Fast flat 5k series, start could be improved In full: A flat and fast series which attracts a good field, mostly club runners. In general the race is well organised.
The start is on a narrow path which makes it very congested over the first 800m as people try to make their own space. This could be improved by moving the start line to one of the wider paths within a km of the start. Some expected finishing-time boards would also help people to line up in an appropriate position. Chip timig would also help a lot, especially for those chasing PBs who aren't starting right at the front, but I guess would increase the entry fee.
In short: The best 10k race I've ever done In full: This race has it all, a lot of other races could learn from the D-Day 10k. As the race was held at the Mountbatten Centre (sports centre with athletics track) then it provided an excellent start / finish for the race as well as changing facilities & something to eat & drink after Date of review: June 9, 2013
In full: First time for me, quite nice running round the track and probably the only time I will ever get my name called out on a track. 2 laps free of traffic which is great, marshalls were encouraging and I liked the medal, good venue for spectators and will be back next year Date of review: June 9, 2013
