In short: Uffmoor Shuffle was just that! In full: Very well put together race but due to the time of year and bad weather it was incredibly muddy. Nice fun morning for a challenge that I enjoyed and got through in one piece without falling face first into the mud! All the marshalls and organisers were very friendly and made us feel very welcome for our fist multi terrain race. Date of review: November 5, 2008

In short: Great MT 10K (albeit very muddy in 2008) In full: This is my first time of running the Uffmoor Shuffle, although I have run around Uffmoor Wood many times over the years. It did seem very muddy for the race, but then again we did have heavy prolonged rain the night before the race.
Uffmoor is the correct spelling by the way.
I thought that the course was an interesting mix of tarmac, grass, tracks and mud. Oh and there was a couple of streams (not sure they are there all year round though) to go through. I really enjoyed charging through the wet muddy tracks of the wood, even though my socks didn't (they need to be binned really)! Although it was muddy, I didn’t find it slippy at all, more sloppy really (didn’t realise there was different types of mud, but there you go). It wasn’t a hilly route, but there were some challenging undulations, so not really a PB course, especially with the mud and a steep finish up Grange Hill. Must say that my Inov8 Roclite 315’s were superb on this MT course – road shoes would have been a complete nightmare.
Very well organised by Halesowen A&CC, so well done to them. The marshals were encouraging and very friendly. They did well to get to the muddier parts of the course too! The free use of the showers in the club was a Godsend at the end – my white bathroom suite would have been a nightmare to clean with all that mud!
One minor point – I hate base ball caps, so a bright yellow one was not a good finishing prize for me. A medal or t-shirt would have been fine (or a new pair of socks perhaps?). I guess all I want is a keep-sake, but the cap will most likely end up in a charity shop near you soon…
Well done HA&CC on staging a good MT 10K; see you next year! Date of review: November 3, 2008

In short: mud mud and more mud In full: done 40 marathons and never ever ran in conditions like this ! not experienced running like this since being at school and had to pay to do it. to be fair the marshalls were numerous and very good at times but to be honest I thought this run was dangerous in places and was pleased to finish with both trainers still on. also, the worst "prize" I have received on any run which would have been thrown away but had to keep it out of novelty value. I think the spelling is wrong, am I the only one to notice this ? uffmoor/uffmore, you decide.

In short: Off-roaders do it in the mud ! In full: Great race. Well organised. Thanks to a wet autumn and heavy overnight rain there was plenty of mud. Just what I wanted. Someone said there were hills, but I'd just call it gently undulating. A hill is when you are reduced to a walk ! I,m sure I'll come again next year and wear my bright yellow baseball cap ! In short: A really good, well organised race that has benefitted from it's move to autumn. In full: This race will certainly be one that I look forward to in the future. Although the field is small, there is a good range of abilities it is excellently organised by Halesowen AC. The course, which when run last summer was hard packed mud was today deep gloopy mud. Maybe not to everyones taste but it certainly made my day. After the race, the facilities were good and the results were processed and displayed with alarming efficiency. There was only one negative point: when am I ever going to want to wear a bright yellow baseball cap! The bright yellow shoe bag from last year was much more useful! Date of review: November 2, 2008

In short: Mud-tastic In full: I really enjoyed today. Even more than last years race. A challenging course through fields and woodland tracks. The recent wet weather made it extremely muddy - this was a good thing though! Well organised race, great facilities, not keen on the yellow cap! Will be back next year. In short: Lovely course, very friendly atmosphere and well marshalled In full: A great mainly off-road course. The section around Uffmoor woods was really enjoyable and relaxed, through the fields was a bit rutted under foot which tested the already tired legs on the return journey! The downhill along the road allowed the legs to recover before the really cruel last uphill to the finish line. Organisation was great, well signposted and encouraging marshalls. All the runners seemed really friendly, even though there were many club runners there was a welcoming atmosphere to all. Very easy to get to from M6/M5 area so give it a go next year - but not for a PB with this terrain! Date of review: May 9, 2007
