In short: Good busy event, but poor value for money In full: Good event definately worth trying, but too many people in the available space & queues. Shocked to find that despite £39 entry, all the finishers T-shirts were 'Large only'. To small for me & too big for my wife. Date of review: March 22, 2013

In short: Nice race In full: My first 1/2 marathon. Felt friendly and well organised.
Felt the course was very boring considering the beauty of Bath. I guess it's a trade off between that and quite a hilly course.

In short: Great atmosphere, crowds all the way round. Better organised than previous years. In full: Freezing cold day but great to see so many spectators out supporting which was very uplifting. Couple of problems to overcome for future races; why have all T shirts in Large; far too big even for large people. Long slow queues for baggage post race. It was freezing so waiting this long wasn't good. This race is overpriced and doesn't represent great value, I've run far better halfs for less than half the price. I think the organizers are a bit greedy and taking too much money and allowing too many entries, it's a very crowded race but I suppose this adds to the atmosphere but potentially affects your pb opportunity if you get stuck behind a crowd. In short: Well Organised, a Bit Early in the Year! In full: Ran this race during 2012. Very well organised, a train is specially put on to transport people to this, and you are directed from the station to the event. Baggage is guarded by soldiers, organised starting positions, plenty of portaloos. Two laps of the city, and despite what some may say, it's not flat, there are a few hills! Great support on the way round, the 131 Commando Regiment who were also running persuaded me to try harder. The little hill after the bridge over the river turned my legs to jelly after ten miles, but people persuaded me to carry on. The final stretch is covered by three video cameras, so give the final 100 yards everything you have left! Medal presentation at the end, you can purchase a plaque with your name and time to add to it. Only fault with this race, too early in the year!!! I don't like taking long distance training runs in January and February in the snow and ice! Not only that it's too dark in the evenings for the mid week races! Did this the once, enjoyed it but have no plans to do it again, as I didn't enjoy training for it. Date of review: March 12, 2013

In short: Love Bath, love the crowds, good for a PB In full: I live in Bath and so I'm a little bias! The organisation was really good, it is well signposted to the runners village, lots of facilities, good entertainment coverage on the route.
I never noticed the mile markers but I know the route so I didn't really need them. The course follows the main road in and out of Bath (towards Bristol) so not the prettiest in Bath and you don't take in the sites en route but you can enjoy all that Bath offers after the race!!
I was in the white section but must admit there were many runners in this section which were much slower and perhaps shouldn't have been in there. It made it a little tricky at the start where I would have expected to go out fast but instead had to duck and dive around lots of people!
Lots of drink stations, jelly babies littered the streets afterwards and a nice goody bag to follow. I like the medal and the fact you are sent you name and time to stick on it afterwards which is a nice memento especially if you get your PB which I managed to. The t-shirt is a tent though. It's a size large, but seriously it's wide enough to fit two of me in there!!

In short: Only Bath can get away with steep prices and oversized T shirts In full: For a half, it is very expensive, but there is something very special about the Bath Half - i've been running if for 9 years (yes lets not mention 2008). Lovely atmosphere, great crowds and the pre and post shopping and eating in the city is second to none. My BIG bugbear is the size of the T shirt - do they think runners are all super sized? I've been throwing my out every year and complaining every year. For the entry fee can't you sort out small sizes for normal runners? Date of review: March 8, 2013
