In short: cracking challenge
In full: Speaking as an "old git" of 66, this is a really demanding but rewarding race. I did it in 49mins 34secs-11mins faster than last year- so was well pleased with my performance, if the rain keeps off next Nov I'll try to better that and NOT walk up Silbury! Overall organisation was excellent the soldiers marshalling very polite and encouraging, a hard task in such miserable weather, and they did a grand job pushing the cars out of the muddy parking field! I agree that with all the resourses at their disposal they could have recorded times and had a few trophies. As one of the older runners in most races I would have loved to know how many of you young whippersnappers I beat! See you all next year-if you're tough enough-lol

In full: This 10k must be the most demanding ever especially after torrential rain all night and morning! Sidbury Hill was a killer but, tahnkfully, the majority of us walked it. The organisation was excellent, well done to all involved.

In short: Glad I did it, but maybe not the best first 10k
In full: I'm very glad to have finished the race, but in retrospect this was not the optimum race for a first-10ker. The course is a fairly challenging route through Tidworth Camp and around the edge of Salisbury Plain, including an ascent of Sidbury Hill (660 feet). The weather did not help: rain overnight had made the course very muddy and soft underfoot, and there was a high wind in places. However, on the plus side, I found other runners very friendly, and cannot speak highly enough of the soldiers who manned the waypoints who were consistently cheery and encouraging. And there was a real sense of satisfaction in having got around.

In short: Gruelling - enough said!
In full: My 1st 10k. Did my 1st HM in September which was a baby compared to this!! The hills were awful and everyone I saw walked the Sidbury Hill. Too many hills for my liking but I still managed 1hr 6mins. Didn't help with the torrential rain all night and morning. It was cold, wet, very muddy and slippery. If there hadn't been so many hills I would have enjoyed it more.

In short: cold, wet, muddy, hilly, fun
In full: Tough course - very muddy and one very steep hill which most people (including me) walked up.

Event was very well organised, lots of marshals and plenty of toilets. Goody bag was spot on - bottle of water, banana, mars bar and I used the plastic bag to put my muddy shoes in. I like the dog-tag medal too.

In short: Tough course but great nonetheless!
In full: After torrential rain all night and morning, the course was a mudbath in places! It made the already difficult terrain even more tricky - no doubt contributing to the great atmosphere. The hill was an absolute killer, and that was before the 5k mark, but the view from the top of the plain was breathtaking and provided a welcome excuse for a rest.
The army marshalls were fantastic - I loved being called Ma'am when I was handed my water at both stations. They marked the course very clearly and cheered us on too, which we needed!
Overall, a very gruelling event but definitely a worthwhile sense of achievement.
Great medal too!

In short: too much tarmac and concrete !
In full: the 10k is not advertised as a fun run so why aren't there any timings and prizes - The Army could easily do this ! Far too much tarmac on the 10k - the 3k was all on grass - we could do with a lap of the polo field! please think about altering the course !

In short: Exllent Tough course, need to separate runners from joggers
In full: Is a great challenging course, never one for a PB but those hills will separate the men from the boys. I chose to do my own warm up as I know what bits i need to stretch but that meant i had to start near the back and taking a good 20 seconds to cross the line and then having to push and shove (not something I like to do) get anywhere near the runners of similar ability. It would be great if they could separate the "runners" fron the "joggers" at the start which i`m sure would make the start a lot better for all. I`m not too bothered about official timings as have a watch but I would like to know what position I came in, even if they only gave them out for the first 20 or so. A couple of easy tweaks could make this race brilliant!
