In short: Huge fun
In full: I just wish I lived closer, so I could run such a superb route regularly. The race was brilliant.

In short: Very tough but huge grin factor :)
In full: If you're chasing PB's this is one to forget immediately. If however, you want to get mucky, sweat, grin, ache and basically have the time of your life in the great outdoors, this is one you MUST do. Like all LT events the emphasis is very much on fun and taking part. You do thechallenge events at your own pace and if you want to stop and draw breath (or take photos, as a fair few did on the tough climb up Coppermines Valley) you can. There are sections that are tough to run for all but the fittest and some hellishly boggy bits (hardly a shock after the recent weather), but these are more than compensated for by some stunning scenery and some brilliant trails and descents to run.

If you're thinking of doing an LT event, stop thinking about it and do it, they are fantastic events and potentially life changing experiences, especially for trail running newbies.

In short: An Idyllic Challenge!!
In full: Only my second 'Trail' and again I was blown away by the organisation and friendliness. These are just brilliant events that have put the sheer fun back into my running! The autumnal atmosphere was amazing with reddening trees and mountains awash in mellow sunshine. The alternative car parking allowed me to park at the very edge of Coniston Water, where I had a post race paddle to wash the mud off!! Idyllic x

(However, I really must run these faster....)

In short: Same time next year? Count me in.
In full: This was my first trail race, and first time running on mountains (I usually walk like most sane people). I absolutely loved it. The 4K climb at the start was Hell, but provided time to get your breath back and take in the views (because I, like many others walked these hills).
After this it was pure joy jumping over rocks, trying to keep balance doing strange little leaps, trudging through mud and free-wheeling down steep hills; I loved it; felt alive. Have to be careful not to forget it's not safe tarmac underfoot and keep concentration. Although at the same time, if you hesitate you're doomed.
The views were dramatic and uplifting; well worth the climb.
Some funny moments hearing people 'screaming' and making odd noises as they come across particularly boggy stretches; great atmosphere.
This race is now in my top 3 races of all time. I'm a trail convert.

In short: Great fun & fantastic scenery!
In full: A pleasure to run from start to finish and a brilliant atmosphere from when you arrive to when you leave. The first 4 km up the hill are hard work but that's all worth it when you level off as the views are brilliant and you can enjoy them even more as you head down towards Torver. Thanks to Graham & all the Lakeland Trails team and a special mention for the marshalls and photographers who always offer a smile and encouragement on the way round. Can't wait for next year's Lakeland Trails at Coniston and might now have a go at the Coniston marathon in July if I can get the training in!
