In short: Scenery, organisation, marshalling and weather all perfect! In full: I admit I've done this course before and I'll be back as it's one of the most scenic routes along the Thames you'll find. It has a mixture of a very short road section, towpath, woodland, fields and only slight hills that only add to the view. Purple Patch (as always) offer great value for money, slick organisation leading right up to race day and, as others continue to point out, their marshals are some of the best around.
Keep it up and see you at the next one! Date of review: October 24, 2016
In short: Wonderful scenic race. Well organised. Multi-terrain limits PB potential. In full: I ran this feeling absolutely god awful. It may be because of this that i was even more blown away by the unbelievably magnificent route this race takes. Nice sized field, well organised, friendly, good parking, and a beautiful race alongside, over and around the Thames. Thumbs up from me. Date of review: October 23, 2016
In short: Stunning scenery & magnificent marshals In full: What a superb race. The venue is glorious set on the magnificent grounds of Bisham Abbey. The mist was rising off the Thames as the race began and when the sun came out, it lit up the beautiful surrounding countryside. The course was very well marked with arrows and mile markers and the marshals were enthusiastic and encouraging. There was a great atmosphere at the finish line and it was nice to hear names called out as you passed the line. Looking forward to my iTab! Thanks Purple Patch. See you next year.
In short: Beautiful scenery and well organised In full: I echo many of the comments on here. The scenery was stunning, the organisation was great and the crowd were friendly and supportive. I set myself the challenge of getting a pb to raise money for charity and got it. It was over 3 years until I beat my pb again. Date of review: November 20, 2015
In short: PP pull it out of the bag once again! In full: What more is there to say! Read what Running Brave & me old mucker Joe Bloggs have to say about this race and then get ready to sign up for it next year. If you want to get a PB then race around the Maidenhead Half but if you want to enjoy a half marathon then this is it. Apparently it is the race other race organisers come to do when they get a day off and you don't get much higher praise than that. Date of review: April 2, 2014
In short: Friendly Atmosphere, Great Charity Event, Beautiful Course, Enthusiastic Marshals In full: I enjoyed every aspect of the event. The event organizers created an excellent atmosphere at the Bisham Abbey Grounds. Excellent course preparation despite record setting flooding over the winter. High Energy Marshals with enthusiastic applause and encouragement all the way around. My only criticism is the Master of Ceremonies failed to announce my name as I ran the final 25 meters but in his defense there was a biblical amount of hail coming down as i crossed the finish line. Will definitely be there again next year just to see if they can top this year. Date of review: March 24, 2014
In short: One of the top races of the year! In full: I ran around with my old friend Ron Faster and we had a great time. Really beautiful scenery and actually quite enjoyed the extra mud this year! Top organisation from the Purple Patch team as always, brilliant marshals, especially around the Flower Pot area, and a fantastic medal & t-shirt. Worlds apart from the desperately dull half marathon I watched at Dorney Lake on Saturday. Date of review: March 24, 2014
In short: A gruelling but exhilarating run in splendid spring scenery In full: My first attempt at this course, which turned out to be more gruelling than I was expecting - so I was reasonably pleased with my time. A most scenic route, good start/finish facilities, a well-marshalled race, and best medal ever! Well done to the organisers. Date of review: March 24, 2014
In short: Lovely scenery and wonderfully well organised In full: Really pleasant run along the Thames. I really didn't think it's a PB course, but that might have been more to do with the strong headwind on the outwards leg this year.
Really, really well organised and a great medal and t-shirt. Would highly recommend and will be back next year. Date of review: March 24, 2014
In short: How races should be! In full: Efficiently organised, wonderful flat scenic course, top notch marshalls, quality medal and technical T-shirt. Excellent job Purple Patch, thank you! Date of review: March 23, 2014
