In short: Great local event, lovely rural route. In full: First time here. Arrived later than expected due to M54 problems, which led to a struggle finding a parking space. That aside, it was a perfect day and run. A lovely rural route primarily consisting of mildly undulating country lanes and farm tracks, with a little offroad intermingled. Water stations every 2 miles, with bottled water at every other stop, which is always appreciated over cups! Great supportive marshalls, good value entry, and the oranges at the end were a pleasant first! A well recommended alternative to larger, costly road races. Date of review: July 1, 2012

In short: Best half marathon in the area In full: This is the first time I have run this. It was fantastic. Amazing value for money. A mixture of off and on road, wonderfully marshalled with plenty of water stations. The organisation puts larger events to shame. Lovely touch of having fruit at the finish line. In short: Challenging but scenic; great atmosphere, well managed. In full: My second Shifnal Steeplechase, this year with perfect weather; nice and cool with a good breeze although there was a very sharp shower shortly after I finished. This race is run by a local school, with staff members assisting and many marshals are pupils. It was really well managed - I registered on the day which was very easy and the school's facilities were available. The course was very well marked with plenty of marshals; many of whom offered advice for the paths ahead.
Several water stations with bottled water and a great reception at the end with an announcer (Alan Partridge-esque), a good crowd and refreshments. This is a great local half marathon which brings runners back year after year; well worth a try. Well done and thank you to everyone involved; you put on an excellent race. Also it's brilliant that there were plenty of photographers at various points and the photos are posted on the internet for free! Great stuff. See you next year. Date of review: July 1, 2012

In short: Second time here, and I hope to return again and again In full: I ran this last year and enjoyed it again this year, despite it being a bit of a journey for me and my time being nearly 6 minutes slower. No hiding a lack of running, particularly on this course that isn't exactly hilly but certainly isn't exactly flat either - never quite lets you go. Really good race, this, nicely organised and well marshalled. I hope the numbers increase even more, though if they do that one pinch point at the start would be more of a problem. But I enjoyed the whole thing (again). Date of review: July 5, 2011

In short: New favourite ! In full: Worth the drive from Birmingham [ well my mate drove!]. Great scenery all the way , varied road and off road route with plenty of steep bits to keep you working and no boring main road sections as so many events seem to have. Well done to organisers - well marshalled out in the sticks and water every two miles on blistering day. Really enjoyed + definitely be back. Date of review: July 5, 2011

In short: Hot and hard In full: My first time at this race. Organisation was good. The HQ was well signposted.
The course was a good testing one. Might have enjoyed the second half more if I wasn't suffering so much.
Plenty of water stations and a good crowd at the finish. Date of review: July 4, 2011
