In short: A great undulating and scenic race
In full: A great little race. Lovely scenary for most of the route, great organisation (despite the long walk to the start), excellent finish area. A few ideas for next time - toilets near the start please, free parking for runners and a technical T-shirt (its a great advert for you as well!). See you next year. PS its really hurst if you race Snowdon marathon the week before!

In short: Fairly hilly, tough one.....but very scenic.
In full: A nice scenic one. I chose this one as it was by the same organisers as Grimsthorpe, & thought it would be an interesting one that respected the slower runners. (Getting greeted by the organiser on the finish line, medal in hand, was a nice touch for us slow buggers.....)

Quite a tough one, especially after back to back marathons every week for 3 months...... Fairly hilly throughout. But good course, & far more interesting than plodding round a big city road marathon.

No water left at the 12 mile drink station, so got a bit dehydrated. Water in bottles would be helpful.

I made it a bit short....??

I'll be back for the Grimsthorpe 70 & half marathon in July.

In short: Late start - no water at 18 miles
In full: After 25 min walk to start, and it was freezing,we were then kept waiting a further 10 minutes or so.....WHY WHY WHY ?
With no entries on the day - just WHY did mile 18 have no water ?
Expensive for a x-country parkland run,very disapponting medal,wrong size t/shirt.
The route was undulating and quite rough underfoot in a few places.

In short: Great scenery, very friendly but with a few tweaks could be improved.
In full: Good: wonderful scenery and very lucky with the weather. Friendly marshals.
Bad: at a critical water station, they ran out of water for slower runners. No toilets at the start, a particular problem for women. 24-mile marker wrong. Expensive.

In short: a money making exercise tempered by such a lovely scenic run
In full: a mile walk to the start... a late start and no communication. The route is lovely, worth a return for that alone. Organisers need to look at the start and the value for money as expensive entry fee. The Army cadets were super as were the supporters cheering on the route.

In short: More ups than downs (!) - a very special race
In full: The Good:
The cadets with their continuous positivity. The weather - uncontrollable, but wouldn't have been anywhere near as enjoyable in the rain and wind.
Gels.
3 mile markers - each one really felt like an achievement.
Toilets and portaloos.
Medics.
Small event with national interest.
Good mix of runners - and almost all very friendly and supportive.
Hills a challenge but do-able.
And of course... location, location, location.

The Bad:
Didn't notice the 24 mile marker error, but the 21 marker seemed about 4.5 miles from the 18!
Really needed water sooner after 18 miles - before those hills.
Long cold wait for the start with no shelter or toilets.

And the mildly disappointing:
Generic medal. Non-tech t-shirt. Mementos a let down for such a unique and special race.

In short: They even organised lovely weather.
In full: It felt a bit hilly but this was my first marathon so what do I know ?
Also I'd have preferred the cattle grids to be covered.
These are trivial niggles though with the course being gloroius, the runners friendly and not too numerous, and the organisation & marshals doing brilliantly.

In short: Very scenic. Great day.
In full: What a great place for a marathon. The scenery was beautiful, and the marshalls and cadets all did a stirling job. Only gripe was the amount of gel wrappers some runners just threw on the ground - really not acceptable. It really doesn't give runners a good name and the clearing up must have been a huge job. That aside though, I thoroughyl enjoyed myself and would certainly do this one again.
