In short: Good, up until results processing In full: A common problem with private race promoters - they do everything they need to until they've had everyone's money, and they've started the race.
The results were published 2 1/2 days after the event, and came in the form of a list of bib numbers, a list of times (against bib numbers), and seperated into males and females.
They didn't capture anyone's club names, so whilst searching for your own result was a pain in the arse, having to find five other people's results for the club records was annoying. I spare a thought for whoever at Dartford Roadrunners had to compile the 30+ (?) results for their Grand Prix tournament.
Anomolies occured in pricing as well - they were taking on-the-day entries for less than the online entrance, which is just wrong.
Regardless, I'll do it again. It's a fast 10k course not far from home, and there's all the facilities of the athletics track there.
If they could just spend a bit more time and effort on publishing results, this would be so much better. Date of review: January 14, 2015
In short: Flat 10km run In full: This race was OK and thats really about it. Norman park is a nice area to run around and with plenty of people out and about it made it a nice Sunday run. Marshalls were very helpful and gave great support throughout the run.
Knowing the area well, there is plenty of pathways out of Norman Park through woodland areas which could of made it better rather than the 4 laps.
The queue at the end of the race for a medal and t-shirts NEEDS to better organised
Overall it was a nice January race and i will look at doing more MCC races down the track Date of review: January 12, 2015
In short: flat, laps so dull, busy park, lots of dogs, not very slick In full: it was ok, just, and only because it was our club grand prix event and there were 60+ of us there so we had lots of banter. Positives - accurate in distance, good parking and decent amenities. Negatives - 3 laps of the track was congested as people were lapping with no organisation. Busy park and lots of jigging and jagging. poor race organisation at the finish with 1 chap giving out cheap medals and cheap cotton T's so long queues. It could be so much better but i'll never know as i won't be doing a MCC run again. Definitely prefer runs organised by running clubs as they know what is required.
In short: Very nice, flat 10k. Excellent value In full: A very enjoyable fast 10k. A mixture of running track, tarmac paths and grass; all flat with nice facilities at the finish. Not a massive race but £13 for a medal and t-shirt (choice of sizes) makes it very good value (though I wonder if they ran out of "Bromley 10k" medals: I got one but my wife got a generic MCC one). One downside was the congestion on the running track: 3 laps at the start did mean lots of lapping other runners: surely it would be better to start us on the inside lanes and move outwards each lap? Also some dodging of other park users was needed, though the paths were fairly wide so I've seen much worse! Overall a fast, flat 10k: a relative rarity in January! Perfect: maybe not, but good value and enjoyable: definitely! Date of review: January 11, 2015
In short: Poorly organised, plastic medals and multi laps In full: I entered the race in advance using the organiser's, MCC Promotions, website and was charged £15, then to find people were entering on the day only paid £13. Surely people who enter in advance should get a discounted price?
The race consists of 3 laps of a running track, 4 laps of Norman Park and a 300m finish on the track. You have to be very aware of other park users, as there were a few incidents of dogs or children running out in-front of runners.
The organisation of the race was very poor, there were no marshals in car park directing or any signs on the main road to direct people ensuring they are going to the right place.
When we finished the race there was only one person handing out the medals and t-shirts, so we all had to queue for ages and whilst getting cold.
The medal we received is very disappointing, very cheap and it doesn't even mention 'Bromley' on it and there is no date on it either. It was made of plastic and only mentions 'MCC 10k Series'. It must have cost MCC Promotions to buy a job lots of these for all of their races for eternity.
I don't think I will enter another race organised by MCC Promotions in the future. Date of review: January 11, 2015
In short: Below average and a bit annoying In full: To echo some of the comments below, the queue at the end was a joke, how hard is it to give out medals and goody bags. No time clock at the end even though it was an athletics track. The off road section churned up really badly so everyone went off course, mostly cutting the corners saving approx 100 meters according to my runkeeper. Laps are always annoying and meant the course deteriorated further, I cant see me running it again. Date of review: January 19, 2014
In short: Average race In full: Average race to say the least . The queue at the end without any watered was diabolical . Not a single banner , no time watch at the end . Course itself is ok but nothing exceptional - park was open to public so we had to avoid kids and dogs - live locally so easy to get to . But only a few race in January it was nice to test myself - will do it again Date of review: January 14, 2014
In short: It did what i wanted, but pretty chaotic and repetitive In full: I wanted a flat 10k with good level of runners to push me and it did that fine. Not great organisation, didnt get a medal, course repetitive and the laps of the park varied each time as so many cutting corners (my gps said 6.06 miles). But its close, was a lovely day and I got a PB (even allowing for the distance) so was happy. Date of review: January 13, 2014
In short: Could be much better! In full: Not a bad race - 3 laps of the track causes problems with the faster runners overlapping the slower ones. 4 laps of the same square park is mind numbing and too repetative! The queue at the finish line for medal and Tshirt was pathetic! 2 people handing out bags but one poor man individually searching for tshirts in correct size and then handing each 2 leaflets is very poor organising!
Also only race I have done that doesnt give water/fruit at the finish line!!
Will come back next year but only becuase its so local for me. Wouldnt travel to do this event! Date of review: January 13, 2014
In short: well organised, nice route In full: My comeback from injury event and I really enjoyed today's outing. The course was a mix of track, path and across grass. The grass did churn up quite badly with some very muddy patches. I struggled on the grass as I am running with damaged medial ligaments and was overly cautious of foot placement. Organisers and marshals all very helpful and friendly. The only critique was having to queue at the end for the medal/T-shirt which caused a bit of a bottle-neck. A good value event and I will gladly enter other events from this organiser Date of review: January 12, 2014
