In short: A brilliant race in a stunning place
In full: blessed with great weather (maybe too blessed at times), fantastic organisation, well marshalled, great family day out, tough course and at times running could be suicidal on certain downhill stretches (too rocky) - enjoyed fording the river but not the heavy trainers for the next few miles! thanks to all involved, the day will last in the memory forever, the muscles a little less.

In short: Gloriously difficult
In full: A most glorious beautiful route. Equally a tough route with long steep climbs and descents, some quite technical with loose rock etc etc. More like a fell race in parts.
Marshals very friendly and in all the right places.
However, only 4 drink stations on a tough race like this and on a searingly hot day was not enough. Also could have done with some nutrition at them - eg bananas, rather than a bit of kendal mint cake which is simply solid sugar.
Agree with Sarah above - very expensive. Amateur timing, non-specific medal - not even the ribbon identified the event, no water or anything after the finish line.
Nevertheless a great race, a great day.

In short: Wonderful race with stunning views around every corner. Definately not for the faint hearted.
In full: This is a stunning race, I personally underestimated the difficulty of the terrain, but my second from last place finish won't take away from what a great day I had.

From the clearly marked out course, motivating marshalls, and my fellow runners who all offered encouragement and various items of salty foods and salt tablets to attempt to relieve my cramps! I had a great day, although now I've done it, I'm not sure I'll be back next year.

In short: Unbeatable scenery, but a very tough technical route with far too few water stops and far too little value for money
In full: The route cannot be bettered for scenery, and on a hot, sunny day it was staggeringly beautiful. Cut-off times for the 6 hour race were pretty tough and anyone in any doubt about doing this highly technical route in the time should sign up for the 7am, rather than 9am, start. My main grouse is that £39 entry fee is a rip-off: no chip timing, only 4 water and "nutrition" (=trays of broken Kendal mint cake)stations, a t-shirt and a non-specific medal. A bottle of water immediately on finish was very much missed. They said at the beginning that if you bailed out at a checkpoint you then had to make your own way back to the start - I hope that was a joke (luckily I didn't have to find out)

In short: This event has the wow factor.
In full: Amazing views and it is pretty much all run on trails. However, if you are thinking of doing this then be aware it is very hilly and the rocky parts of the course are not only hard to descend they bloody well hurt your feet :)

I thought it was a well run event but I would say you can get better value for money at the Long Distance Walkers Association events. Well worth doing.
