In short: Wet, windy, hilly and a really good race
In full: 3rd time I've done this race and it's always good. Challenging course, no chance of a PB unless it's your first one or you're much fitter than you've ever been. But great fun, good marshalls, great goodie bag - medal, lucozade sport and a mars bar and that's all I want! Well done David again for getting the event so well organised in such tricky conditions, and for getting the results to us so quickly.

See you next year.

In short: david h is a star
In full: David

You are a star! dont beat yourself up re problems yesterday, it was a bit on the extreme side. i have done the race twice before with ok weather and it was fine. you were victims as we runners were, of not too nice conditions.

maybe chip timing next year but just add it to the entry fee. those precious people, re times, can then decide if worth it. for many its training ground for london or like me for other marathons if dont get in to london (im my case brighton) so the support would still be there if it means another fiver for chip timing. or mad as it seems offer punters the choice. most of us are more than capable of starting our watch as we cross the line.

its bloody obvious how hard you work to make this excellent race work and you and the absolutely brilliant team of dedicated marshalls worked your arse off yday (one poor soul at 11m was fab but was more cheered when i gave her a few of my, much needed at that time, energy boosting sweets). the marshalls were amazing and me and several others around me shouted our thanks.

yes its a race and i know to some purists that means fuss potting over split second/2012 style olympic timing. sod em david the rest of us just need the good work out you give us for upcoming 26 milers.

cheers mate, dont fret and see you next year.

In short: Great hilly course
In full: Local race for me which takes in lots of hills I train on. Was great to have a chance to run against hills and the wind this time - felt like a proper half.

I didn't have trouble at the start and got away fine.

Marshalls did their best in awful weather.

In short: Quit Moaning
In full: My first HM, infact my first race, absolutely loved it, cold, wet, hilly, challenging, wouldnt of wanted it any other way. So what if there was a big puddle, you were hardly gonna be keeping your trainers dry anyway.. MAN UP

In short: Decent local race, but too much rain and too few marshalls!
In full: This is a fairly local race to me, but it's the first time I've done it. It was friendly enough, with some good challenging undulations, but the torrential rain and below par organisation didn't help. There just weren't enough marshalls on what were busy suburban roads and some drivers behaved idiotically. But in fairness the rain was heavy and persistent and made everything more difficult. The start could have been better and I really didn't appreciate having to wade through a huge puddle to get from the track to the car park. I do think the race would benefit from a decent chip timed start. All in all not a bad race, but I won't be rushing back next year!

In short: Toughish hills made tougher in the rain.
In full: I would definitly agree with earlier comments in that the marshalls put on a brave effort in torrential rain.

Downside is that the start could have been better, even without the rain there would have been horrendous bottlenecks coming off the track. In addition to that, inadequate toilet facilities made it a race for the line.

On the upside, a testing course which makes a good pre London run out. Special thanks goes to the Race Director who has been honest and sincere enough to take critiscism on the chin and promise to review things for next year.

Final comment is don't worry about the chip timing for next year...it will only add to the cost of a race which currently offers good value for money.
