In short: Lovely race with great PB potential In full: My second HM and I really enjoyed it, partly because I sliced 10 minutes off my previous time. I started way too far back but with chip timing that didn't really matter. A very fast course, unless you're unused to even the slightest gradient. Even the hill at the end which is talked about here is quite short. Nice tech shirt in the goody bag. A special mention for the very balletic lady who was martialling the cars out of the Rugby Club car park at the end - 10/10 for artistic impression! Date of review: March 27, 2011
In short: Always a great turn out for a very good race.......on the downside the wife beat me this year and by quite a margin....she'll be dining out on this for weeks!!!! Date of review: March 27, 2011
In short: Half Marathon first timer & enjoyed every minute In full: This race had a great atmosphere, good banter and was well organised. The final hill really finished me off but the support finally pushed me across the line.
Ill be back for more Date of review: April 14, 2010
In short: top event, must do. In full: Was expecting a flatter course, this is fast but some dipe/underlations, expect them and its fine, quality race/athletes, one of the best fields for a half anywhere. 20+runners under 70mins, but sadly not me! Date of review: April 14, 2010
In short: Continues to improve In full: The organisers deserve a lot of credit for taking on board participants' feedback. Over the last couple of years the introduction of chip timing, technical T shirts and sports drinks at the finish have all improved this event. Fairly flat course makes it ideal as a pre-marathon half, to predict marathon time and pace. My main gripe, which is not the fault of the organisers, is that far too many people position themselves in a faster time band at the start than they can actually achieve - totally unnecessary when there is chip timing.
Although this race is well organised, it has a very 'functional' feel to it, and lacks the special atmosphere that turns a race into a really special event. Date of review: April 12, 2010
