In short: Challenging when you neglect to train properly..
In full: A fantastically organised race, marshalls and pulic very supportive. This was my 10th marathon so goal achieved. I had hoped Shakespeare Marathon would be 10th but that was shelved due to inclement weather / disasterous organisation and I booked Halstead last minute. I was hoping for 10 different races but not to be, as I ran Halstead last year. I actually prefer cold and wet weather and found today's heat really difficult. I'm taking a break until September, when I'll be able to plan some proper training. Spending the last nine months in the same room as a new baby doesn't help either with exhaustion (not my call)! Only issue with the race is that the second lap is a bit unnecessary. Take it over as far as Bures for great scenery.

In short: Brilliant day for a run, don't miss next year
In full: After days of rain it was nice to see the sun, as the race went on so the wether got warmer, but don't worry plenty of water stations and local people supporting the event with jelly beans, sliced oranges and jaffa cakes. A big thank you goes out to all at Halstead road runners and the local supporters what a great day.

In short: Beautiful run through the countryside
In full: I can see why this race gets such good feedback and is so well supported. It's a lovely course, challenging and testing, but fair. I ran London 3 weeks ago and did almost the same time in this race which I'm very pleased about, such a different experience! Organisation was *clockwork* and a special thanks to those manning the water stations and the marshalls who did their job expertly and offered great support and encouragement. Loved the crowd support at the junction we went through 4 times, really spurred you on on a course where you can often be running on your own for long periods. Highly recommended.

In short: Halstead - not hilly, but still challenging
In full: This is such a cool event. The undulations are pretty challenging, considering we don't really DO hills in Essex. The scenery is lovely. The support from all the local residents is great, with 'unofficial' water stations, kids giving out jaffa cakes, milky ways and sweeties.

The organisation was excellent and the organisers clearly do listen to feedback, as there were masses of toilets at the race HQ. Unfortunately, some runners were still peeing around the field, though there was really no need to do so.

I love to run with an iPod, but I completely understand why they are banned from this race. There are too many other road users around for people to 'zone out'.

Great medal this year! Looking forward to next time.

In short: My best marathon experience - thank-you!
In full: This was my fourth 26.2 after three years of running large city marathons and I can honestly say it was the most enjoyable marathon I've been involved in - really couldn't fault it.

The scenery, organisation, stewards, local support and the other competitors were all wonderful, and I'm chuffed with the quality of the medal too :)

Thank-you to everyone involved in arranging and supporting this race - I had an unforgettable day :)
